These are just a few basic things you should look at:-
- Ensure you tite tag is the first line in your head tags.
- Make sure your keywords are present in the content preferably at the begining and the end,
- Try and have around 300 words in your body tag.
- Keyword density needs to be around 3% and you should be targeting 1 - 2 keywords per page.
- Ensure there are no broken links on your site and that all your pages can be accessed from your landing page. If you have hundreds of pages keep your sitemap page to 100 outbound links per page.
- Refer to some authoritive texts by linking to them but make sure it's relevant to your topic.
- Build quality ethical links to your site. There are many methods of doing this but make sure your submitting to directories like Yahoo! and DMOZ. Also try leaving comments in forums and blogs as well as article marketing.
- A quality inbound link to your site should be from a page with high PageRank, relevant to your site and anchored.
- Keep you content up to date and refresh it 2 - 3 times a week.
These are just the basics and you will have to study seo to get to grips with more complex issues.
Getting indexed can take time around 2 weeks to 3 months. To get a high position on keywords and traffic your looking at 6 - 12 months. This is what the seo game is all about, patience and consistency. Those that can do, do. and those that can't forget about it and don't believe it's possible.
PS make sure all your content is unique, never copy content. If you understand the difference between an expert site and an authoritive site you will know what I mean.
- Never used paid back links and link farms, keep it clean.
