On my campus I applied for two positions for webmaster. Everything was going fine until they found out that I was for the other position. One organization is established newspaper on campus that needs a completely new site while the other is more of an video news feed organization.
There are talks of combining the organizations, which I think would be great so they are not competing against each. But the newspaper says they do not want me as webmaster because they feel it would take up to much of my time. Instead they would rather have me work on the other site while a different webmaster works on theirs and then we exchange information(news stories, archives, ideas, etc).
I tried coming back at the newspaper telling her how it was a bad idea because they could save money by having one webmaster and two webmasters would create barriers such a communication, different styles of programming and design, different databases, etc.
What are others thoughts on this?
