Is google adwords worth it? Please help! I need some advice.?

Is google adwords worth the cost to boost your online business? I dont know if it's bcoz of recession but Im really losing so much money on my adwords. I know i have a great website, great products, low prices. Customers are very seldom. Adwords charges my credit card every now and then for hundreds or thousands of dollars. I'm getting bankcrupt. Please help! I need some advice.
