Does adding rel=follow follow to your links add any value?

Postby WaltK » Thu Apr 02, 2009 6:59 am

I want to get to the bottom of this issue. I understand the value of adding a rel=nofollow and the effect it has on the a crawlers indexing and essentially pagerank. I am not conviced and can't find any documentation that says that adding rel=follow follow would do anything for SEO or pagerank value. Please advise.

From everything that I've read, follow is the default case for links. The nofollow attribute is used to prevent search engines from following the indicated link.

Since follow is the default, adding it to your links should neither help nor hurt in terms of SEO and page rank.
