How do you make money on ads on your own website?

I am familiar with google ads and how that works with per click. But I went to another website that offered free credits to there website if you clicked on certain links to try there offers. An example is one of the links was netflix, to try a free offer from them, another was the discover card to try and apply. Obviously the website is making money from these particular ads, but my question is are these ads paying them more possibly because they have them featured and they are giving you credits to there website if you fill out the offers on the other websites. Or is this basically the same thing as google ads?

I have not had any experience with this but i imagine it is similar to adwords.
I personally dont use these anymore because of the low click rates.
Adbrite is another option, but my favourite is clickbank, they have a new hop ad builder, go to clickbank.com free sign up as an affiliate then you can create adsense style ads in whatever category your site is in, and when someone clicks on your ads they go to the clickbank sales page and if they buy you can get up to 75% commission instead of a measly .75cents

Recently Google and others started a new type of advert. Rather than Pay per Click it's Pay per Action.

So, as you say, money is made by the website only if the visitor clicks on the advert and then completes a sign up or similar action.

Since there is no money made just on the click, more money is made on the action. The websites you mention probably encourage people to sign up by giving the visitor some of their profit.

Its little bit different, sometime you should find which good advertising program that is good for your website... I never try netflix but I use something related like that, that kind of advertising program called banner advertising.
